Hello

I have a question about how to make a light bulb.

For now i have made a vray material with luminance applied and then a small sphere area light. The problem is that i get totally burnt out areas in the ceiling and not so much light in the room. Is there a better way to make a light bulb than the way I have made it , maybe with ies? I have bin searching for ies files for light bulbs but without any luck..

here is an example:

hi,

sorry, but that is, what it will look like when you screw light bulbs in the ceiling. There is no IES Data for light bulbs, because they have a totally diffuse light distribution. IES Data are used for luminaires which have a reflector or something that distribute the light in defined direction.
I think no lighting designer will use light bulbs for a good light planning
Perhaps you can look on websites of luminaire companies, eg. www.erco.com. There you find 3d data of luminaires and also the IES Data. I think downlights or some pendant luminaires are a professional solution for this kind of room.

regards
Andre

yeah the bulb in middle of the hall looks weird and it will give your results so no one use it.

I agree with previous comments.

Your lightbulbs don't seem like a realistic scheme - perhaps as an art installation :D
