great looking images!!!
can you share some info on setting used?
How do you prepare your materials, do you use a filter with gamma adjustment (0.4545) in the diffuse channel?
have you used additional lights on openings?

thanks

great renders!

I didn't use the linear workflow method for the materials, since I don't have a good grasp on it yet, so everything was adjusted "by eye".

For interiors, I prefer using Irradiance maps (-3/-1) with 70-100 samples, and light cache to its default value (blurry samples generated through the light cache).
For the second and third image I used a portal, to get sharper shadows coming from the opening, but the first image makes use of IES lights and illuminated materials mostly.

Since I'm using a lot of blurry materials, I went for the Adaptative DMC method, to get consistent samples accross the image and speed up AA rendering a bit.

Great renders Fluffy!
Can you let us know about the rendering time?

Thank you.
The images took an average of 4 to 5 hours at 4700x2600 something on my old dual Xeon 3.2Ghz.

Nice work, Fluffy. Lighting questions: the light on the ceiling, is that all reflected light or did you use an emitter plane or some other supplemental source? Also, are the two comfy chairs in the lower left corner lit from a nearby source and not the ceiling fixtures? They are reflecting a lot of light. Thanks.

@nycl45: The illumination on the ceiling comes from self illuminated materials placed on the metallic lamp strips just below.
As for the chairs, they are illuminated by two IES lights like the ones you can see on the wall facing us. They are maybe a bit strong, you are right.

I must say that self illuminated materials render extremely nice in Vray, with quite good details detection and few artefacts, even at medium settings.

Thanks Fluffy. I asked because it seems cg is getting closer to real lighting where the ceiling gets much lighting from reflected light and the artist can avoid concealed fixes. Your ceiling (pic 1) feels natural or what I, IMHO, expect to see in those conditions. Great.

Love the dark bathroom. Only thing I'd say is that the rug is way too 'fluffy'. It's kind of giving the game away as far as CGI is concerned.

Cheers

Trying to break away from the classic physical sky atmosphere.

Excellent! Physical Sky does look nice most of the time but get's a
bit boring by the time...
