Hi

If we buy the plugin today and have C4D Net Render will we get network rendering on our quad core intel mac pros for both stills and animation?

Thanks

yes, just like with C4D net.
no extra Vray licenses needed (big cheer!!!!!)

no bucket rendering though (yet...) 8)

so when you say no bucket rendering what does that mean to the process? is it any slower? is there some compositing process to do at the end?

what's the difference?

TIA

buckets are used when you are rendering a single frame over a network.
Vray over the net works like C4D net. If you want to render a single frame you need to use the tiled camera and recompose the image from the fragments in Photoshop.

oh dear... sorry to say it but there's been several disappointing bits of news today....

no 64 bit VRay/C4D on 64 bit OS X...

:-(

no bucket rendering...

:-(

I'm sure these things will come with time...all that's needed is an assurance that they're on their way and that you won't have to stump up even more cash when they're ready...if not then it's back to the waiting game...

ho hum...

osx doesnt allow real 64 bit version yet, as with c4d.

you have bucketrendering, what you mean is distributed rendering maybe?
tjat will be in v1.1, we alreay work on that. DR was always stated as beeing in update.

cheers

You have never had the ability to run 64 bit applications in OSX except from the command line. That in not new... nor is it anyone's job to fix but Apple. That's what the big todo about Leopard is - it wil be the first fully capable 64 bit OS for Macintosh.

I'm sure C4D will be one of the first OSX applications to reap these benefits when they become available and I'm sure the developers of vrayforc4d have equally prepared for its arrival. It's not terribly appropriate to blame the vray crew for this.

I wasn't blaming them.

I was just disappointed to hear that C4D and the plugin can't use 64 bits as yet because the OS doesn't yet support it.

It's not terribly appropriate to accuse me of blaming them...

That's alright guys, just a little misunderstanding :)

Keep in mind that Vray for C4D has just come out, so it will still need some time to get all the features wanted by the users.
Renato and Daniele are updating the plugin very fast, and listen to user input as much as possible.
